Each year, TIFF’s Platform section recognizes the artistic merits of innovative contemporary filmmakers whose distinct voices carve a new path for the future of filmmaking. This year, two of the Festival’s highly acclaimed Platform directors, Maïmouna Doucouré (Cuties, Hawa), and Carolina Markowicz (Long Distance, The Orphan, Charcoal) will join us in conversation to discuss their creative processes, the nature of bringing a script to life, and the selected films Hawa and Charcoal, which each convey Doucouré and Markowicz’ unique and distinguishable approaches to filmmaking.
